The purpose of this social club is to provide recreation, fellowship, and ever-changing entertainment for its membership. The Wilmington Executives Club gathers at premium locations four times each fall-winter-spring season to visit with old friends and meet new ones.

A cocktail hour precedes dinner. Dinner is followed by an entertainment program matched to the season such as Big Band, Mardi Gras, Wine Tasting, Beach Night and so on.

The dress code is varied and is established each season depending on the events: formal, business attire, casual for gentlemen and appropriate dress for the ladies.

As a social, not-for profit organization, our Club has no attendance, committee, or “projects” requirements. There are annual dues to cover our entertainment budget plus a dinner charge for each meeting attended. Members are encouraged to bring guests, for an additional charge, who may have an interest in joining our group. The Club is member-governed by a Board of Directors, including four Officers.

Membership is by invitation only…….

Current members recommend individuals to the Club’s Board of Directors for membership. The sponsoring member will initiate the new membership application process with the Club’s membership chair and the executive secretary.

Our History

The Wilmington Executives Club was founded in Wilmington, January 12, 1949, and was originally an affiliate of the national organization, “Associated Clubs”. The motto at that time was Good Food, Good Company, and Good Minds.

From the Operations Manual of the Associated Clubs…1949: “This Club shall be a social, patriotic, and educational organization whose purpose is to entertain from time to time with men and women of national and international repute in the affairs of the world; to disseminate knowledge, to promote scientific inquiries and lastly to provide means of service, recreation, fellowship, and entertainment for its membership. Initiation fees and annual dues are $10.00. Only persons of good moral character shall be eligible for membership in the Club.”

We have operated continuously since 1949 but many changes have taken place in an effort to serve our membership. In more recent years we have gone to a lighter note. In 2012, we changed the format to be more participatory and engaging in an effort to develop a more collegial social evening with dancing, theme dinners and wine tasting formats.

We also updated our motto: Great Food, Great Entertainment, Great Fellowship.
Our tradition continues…
